On World Blood Cancer Day 2026, CERTAINTY spotlights the researchers driving innovation in virtual twins, AI, and CAR T cell therapy through its ongoing video interview series
🎗️ Every year on 28 May, World Blood Cancer Day raises awareness of blood cancers such as multiple myeloma and lymphoma, while highlighting the importance of research, collaboration, and innovation in improving patient care.
To mark the occasion, the CERTAINTY project is highlighting Inside CERTAINTY Minds, a video interview series that brings audiences closer to the people shaping the future of personalised cancer therapy.
Launched earlier this year, the series introduces researchers and experts from across the consortium, offering accessible insights into the science, technology, and collaboration behind CERTAINTY’s virtual twin approach for cellular immunotherapy.
Through short interviews, project members explain how their work contributes to advancing more patient-specific and data-driven approaches to multiple myeloma treatment.
So far, the series has featured:
Dr. Kristin Reiche (Fraunhofer IZI and IT:U), who introduced the concept of CAR T cells as “living drugs” and explained how CERTAINTY develops a digital patient and cell twin to support personalised cancer therapy.
Maria Quaranta (ITTM) and Anne Funck Hansen (Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft), who discussed the importance of responsible data sharing, compliance, and the project’s data governance framework.
Prof. Holger Fröhlich (Fraunhofer SCAI), who presented the modelling approaches at the heart of the virtual twin, including generative and mechanistic models for predicting disease progression and treatment outcomes.
The series reflects one of CERTAINTY’s core ambitions: making complex scientific developments more understandable, transparent, and connected to real clinical impact.
Additional episodes are already planned and will continue to showcase the diverse expertise across the consortium, including artificial intelligence, clinical research, and patient perspectives.
